From humble beginnings here as a volunteer organization in 1986, Hospice Care has grown in service and experience to be considered the benchmark for hospice services in West Virginia.
In 2001, the organization moved into the Arthurdale Inn. The New Deal property was the center of community activity from the Roosevelt Era until the 1960's. Eleanor Roosevelt was a regular visitor and had a room that was reserved for her use on the first floor. Recent years have seen the property, purchased by private individuals, sit dormant and deteriorate from neglect and vandalism. The purchase of the Inn by HCC, paralleled by the growth in activity by the Arthurdale Heritage Association, has brought resurgence and restoration to the Inn and surrounding Arthurdale area. The Inn promises to be a spot for the community to once again show pride in. Work continues as funding and grants become available. Memorials and donations are welcome.
